The upcoming ODI World Cup is all set to be played in India this year and fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement of the tournament schedule. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has released an update regarding the T20 World Cup to be held next year. The mega event is set to be huge in the shortest format with more than 20 teams taking part.
The hosting rights of the tournament are jointly held by the West Indies and the USA. However, recent reports suggested that the ICC was considering moving the tournament out of the USA and perhaps the entire World Cup to the United Kingdom. But both the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and ICC have denied such reports and confirmed that the T20 World Cup is going to be held only in West Indies and USA and preparations are in full swing.
An ECB spokesperson said, “There is no truth in reports that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be moved from West Indies and USA. Since the event is organized by the ICC, his statement should be treated as binding and conclusive.” ” According to Cricbuzz.
Meanwhile, an ICC spokesperson has also confirmed that the world cricket body has no plans to shift the T20 World Cup and all reports are constructive speculation. “Venue inspections have recently been carried out in both host regions and planning is in full swing to host the event in June 2024,” an ICC spokesperson said.
