Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has been accused of sexual assault, while Netflix has agreed to add real names of hijackers in disclaimer of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.

Amid row over names of terrorists in ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’, Netflix has agreed to update disclaimer of the series and mention real names of hijackers. The decision came after officials of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry met Netflix representatives over the alleged misrepresentation of facts in the new series.

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has been accused of sexual assault. Reportedly, a case has been filed against the actor for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman under the pretext of offering her a role in a movie. According to the Malayalam regional channel Reporter Live, the complainant has named six members to have sexually assaulted her under the pretext of offering an acting opportunity. The incident happened in Dubai in last November.

In a chat with News18, Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas discussed the challenges of being an outsider in the South Indian film industry, which is often dominated by actors from film families. Tovino explained. “When you are from a family with a legacy in films, your first opportunity might come more easily. But your second, third, and overall career success depend on how good you are. For outsiders, getting that first film is very hard, but once you prove yourself, it’s all about your talent and dedication. So, sure, they might get a head start, but after that, it’s a level playing field. It’s all about how good you are.”

Naseeruddin Shah has claimed that he was left ‘disturbed’ after the 1999 Kandahar Hijack of IC814. On Tuesday, the actor was speaking at a press conference for his recently released show when he recalled fearing a ‘wave of islamophobia’ after the shocking incident took place in 1999. The veteran actor mentioned that he was ‘terribly concerned’ and added that it left him with a feeling of unease for a long time.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack has been grabbing eyeballs since its release. Amid all the controversies, Captain Devi Sharan, who was the pilot of the hijacked flight, opened up about two incidents that were shown in the series but did not happen in reality. The series showed that the pilot, played by Vijay Varma, had unclogged the plumbing lines and received a salute from the foreign minister after the siege ended. However, in a new interview, Devi Sharan revealed that these two incidents played out differently in real life.
