Rajiv Thakur has left a strong impression with his role as Chief, a terrorist in the gripping drama IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Known predominantly for his comic timing on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Thakur’s departure from his usual comedic roles to a more intense character has garnered significant acclaim. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, he shared the reactions of his colleagues from the show to his transformative performance.
Thakur admitted to being overwhelmed by the positive feedback he has received for his portrayal. He noted, “Except for Sunil Grover Paaji, everyone expressed their happiness and congratulated me. I believe he might be caught up with other commitments and will catch the show when he can.”
Reflecting on the support from his fellow cast members, Thakur mentioned Kapil Sharma’s enthusiastic response. “I was with Kapil Paaji when I learned that the series had been released. I informed him, and he wished me luck. He binge-watched the series, loved it, and sent a text to Anubhav Sinha before calling me to appreciate my performance.”
Thakur also shared touching remarks from Archana Puran Singh. “Archana Ma’am’s reaction was very heartwarming. She has always believed that I haven’t received my due in comedy. Although she knew I was working on a web series, she was surprised when she saw the trailer and found me unrecognizable. After watching the full series, she messaged me to express her appreciation and support.”
Kiku Sharda and Krushna Abhishek also reached out with their congratulations. Thakur noted, “Kiku praised my performance and congratulated me. Krushna watched a few episodes and called to congratulate me. He mentioned that he would finish watching the series after his shoot for Laughter Chefs.”
IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack features a stellar cast including Pooja Gor, Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapoor, and Naseeruddin Shah, adding to the show’s intrigue and depth.
