An old video of him is now going viral on social media by saying that it hurts religious sentiments.
In the scene in question, he has stopped a mobile tempo by placing his foot in front of the vehicle to let Nana Patekar’s character pass.
Shreyas Talpade has recently completed shooting for the film Emergency directed by Kangana Ranaut. Shreyas will be seen in the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the film. While Shreyas is making headlines for his association with the film and playing the role of a political veteran, an old video of him being accused of hurting religious sentiments is now going viral on social media.
In the video, Shreyas Talpade is allegedly disrespecting the holy symbol Om by placing his foot on it. No, he did it not for real but as part of a scene in the 2012 film Kamal Dhamaal Malamaal. In the scene in question, he has stopped a mobile tempo by placing his foot in front of the vehicle to let Nana Patekar’s character pass. However, eagle-eyed users noticed the Om symbol on the front of the tempo, exactly where Shreyas had placed his foot.
This has infuriated many as they feel it is an insult to Hinduism, which regards Om as one of the most sacred sounds and invocations.

It doesn’t help much that Shreyas plays a Catholic character in the film and also has a crucifixion pendant hanging around his neck. This has given a very communal color to the whole thing and Shreyas is being trolled extensively, saying that he is not fit to play the role of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
However, Shreyas has offered a heartfelt apology for the scene and said that he did it unintentionally, without knowing that the van had an Om sign on it. “There are so many variables to consider while shooting, like one’s attitude during a scene, especially action scenes, director’s demands, punctuality and many other aspects. All I can say is that It was kind of unintentional, and I sincerely apologise. I should have looked into it and told the director about it. However, I would never intentionally hurt anyone or repeat anything like that,” They said.
The actor was last seen in the biographical drama Kaun Pravin Tambe? Which was released last year.
