“I think it felt amazing. It felt good. This innings was all about patience and determination,” Agarwal said in an interaction with broadcasters after the day’s play.

Talking about the challenges he faced during his time with the bat, Agarwal said, “I haven’t changed much, just tried to stick with, but it’s more mental than technical. As for my batting, if I didn’t attack I would get stuck, so if I don’t keep Ajaz (Patel) under the pump, he will keep bowling in good areas.”

Agarwal attributed his hunger for runs and mental toughness to the Indian domestic cricket set-up. “The Indian domestic circuit is tough, and the number of years one spends there helps them. It is tough and the experience and learning you have got is phenomenal, and I have carried it forward in international cricket. We will try to score more runs tomorrow and put pressure on New Zealand.”
