I get royalty of Rs 4 lakh per month from YouTube for lecture videos: Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that he gets Rs 4 lakh as royalty every month from YouTube, as the viewership of his lecture videos posted on the platform increased during the pandemic.
Reviewing the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) in Bharuch, Gadkari further said that his ministry has started rating of road construction contractors and consultants.
During the COVID-19 times, the Road Transport and Highways Minister said, he did two things.
“I became a chef and started cooking at home and started giving lectures via video conference. I gave over 950 lectures online, including lectures by students from foreign universities, uploaded to YouTube had gone.
“My YouTube channel viewership grew and YouTube now pays me Rs 4 lakh per month as royalty,” he said.
Known for his outspoken ideas, Gadkari said those who do good work in India are not appreciated.
The Minister also stressed on the importance of modern and high quality road network for economic growth and generating employment opportunities.
He said that 423 km of road is being constructed in Gujarat at a cost of Rs 35,100 crore.
Gadkari said that 60 major bridges, 17 interchanges, 17 flyovers and eight Road Over Bridges (ROBs) will be built in the state under this expressway.
The Minister said that apart from providing world class transport facilities on this expressway, 33 wayside facilities are also proposed to be created to generate employment opportunities in the State.
