Former Pakistan captain Inzamam feels Babar Azam should not be replaced even after Pakistan’s winless home streak extended to eight Test matches with the latest result against New Zealand.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has come out in support of Babar Azam, saying that captaincy is a tough thing, and “you learn it with time”.

Pakistan held on for a draw against New Zealand late on the fifth day in Karachi, but their winless home streak extended to eight Test matches with the latest result.

For the second time in their Test history, Pakistan drew a Test match with just one wicket in hand as ICC World The Test Championship series against New Zealand ended in a 0–0 draw.

With this result, Pakistan ended the 2021–23 World Test Championship cycle without a win at home.

Babar Azam is facing a lot of criticism for this and the demand to sack him from the captaincy is gaining momentum.

However, former Pakistan captain Inzamam feels that he should not be replaced.

Speaking during an event organized by Cricket Pakistan, Inzamam said, ‘There is no pressure of captaincy on him, he is answering critics with his bat. Captaincy is a tough thing and you learn it with time. Babar is currently going through that phase. He needs our support at this time.”

He said, ‘The more confidence the captain gains, the better decisions he takes. I don’t think they should be replaced.”
