Rahul Dravid, popularly known as The Wall for his solid defensive batting approach, had the art of dealing with lethal bowlers almost anywhere in the world with ease.

If there was a definition of patient and flexible batting, then Rahul Dravid is the closest example. Dravid, with his impeccable timing and a solid defensive batting approach, was one of the finest players to ever grace the field. Former on Dravid’s 50th birthday India Cricketer Hemang Badani opened up about his off-field attitude. Badani revealed that Dravid would bat for hours during the Chennai league. Badani pointed out that the current Indian coach used to travel from Bengaluru to Chennai to participate in the competition. Dravid’s relentless batting was not limited to competitive cricket only. Badani revealed that Dravid also requested the bowlers in the nets to keep challenging him.

“It is quite simple for me. I take a night train. In those days there were no planes and they were very expensive. I take the night train. I travel 6-6.5 hours I am not going to travel much and go back 6.5 hours and bat for 3 hours. I will bat for 5 hours to score a century. And it is as simple as that for me. If I am traveling so much and playing the game , then I’d better be there for 5 hours.” Badani made the disclosure in a video shared by the Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After retirement, Dravid focused on coaching. He was named the head coach of Team India in November 2021.
