Hyderabad: Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit | Here’s All About Diversions & Road Closures

PM to flag off “Vande Bharat Express” at Secunderabad Railway Station on Saturday and address a public meeting at Parade Ground

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana on Saturday to flag off several projects including the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express, the Hyderabad Traffic Police has issued an advisory regarding restrictions on vehicular movement.

It said in a tweet, “Commuters are requested to take note of traffic restrictions/route diversion in view of the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to Hyderabad tomorrow i.e. 08-04-2023.”

Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, CV Anand invoked powers under Section 21(1)(b) of the Hyderabad City Police Act 1348F and informed the passengers about the traffic rules during the Prime Minister’s visit.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister will flag off the “Vande Bharat Express” at the Secunderabad Railway Station and address a public meeting at the parade ground. According to an official statement, to ensure proper traffic management during the event, the following traffic restrictions and parking arrangements will be in place from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Police have advised avoiding the following road sections:

  • Monappa Junction – CTO Junction – St John Rotary – Sangeet X Road – Chilakalguda Junction.
  • MG Road-RP Road- SP Road.

Due to heavy movement of vehicles carrying party workers/citizens attending the public meeting, traffic congestion is expected at the following road junctions:

  • Monappa (Rajiv Gandhi statue) – Greenlands – Prakashnagar – Rasoolpura – CTO – Plaza – SBH – YMCA – St. John Rotary – Sangeet X Road – Alugadda Bavi – Mettuguda – Chilakalguda – Brooke Bond – Tivoli – Balmaray – Accept Gratuity – Secunderabad Club – Trimulgherry – Tadband – Central Point.
  • Citizens are requested to avoid traveling around the above junctions.

Officials said that passengers who are planning to travel by train from Secunderabad Railway Station are advised to start their journey early to reach the station on time.

Entry to Secunderabad Railway Station is restricted from Chilakalguda Junction side

  • Entry of general passengers and vehicles is restricted from the entry point of Chilakalguda Junction to Secunderabad Railway Station. Passengers who wish to use Platforms 1 to 8 are requested to enter the station through the main entrance leading to Platform No. 1.
  • Since there is limited vehicular movement between St. John’s Rotary-Sangeet Junction-Rethfile T Junction and Chilakalguda Junction, commuters are advised to take Clock Tower-Passport Office-Regimental Bazar to reach the main entrance of Secunderabad Railway Station Use Main Road.

Passengers of Secunderabad Railway Station

  • From Punjagutta to Secunderabad Railway Station via Punjagutta – Khairatabad Junction – IMAX Rotary – Telugu Thalli Flyover – Lower Tank Bund – RTC X Road – Musheerabad X Road – Gandhi Hospital – Chilakalguda X Road – From Platform No. 10 Entry to Secunderabad Railway Station and vice versa.
  • Secunderabad Railway Station – Old Gandhi X Road – Monda Market – Ghasmandi – Bible House – Karbala Maidan – Tankband and vice versa.
  • Secunderabad Railway Station – Clock Tower – Patni – Bible House – Karbala Maidan – Tankband and vice versa.
  • Uppal-Tarnaka-Alugadavi-Chilakalguda X Road-Secunderabad Railway Station and vice versa.
  • Do not use roads from Secunderabad Railway Station to Patni – Paradise Junction – Begumpet – Punjagutta as they will be congested.

Karim Nagar Highway

Passengers traveling via Karimnagar Highway (Rajiv Rahdari) are advised to enter ORR Shamirpet or Gate (7) and take Outer Ring Road (ORR) to exit Secunderabad Railway Station.

  • Medchal ORR Gate (6) – Kompally – Suchitra – Balanagar – Moosapet – Erragadda – SR Nagar – Ameerpet, if you want to travel towards City Center (Ameerpet).
  • Kesara ORR Gate (8) – Kushaiguda – ECIL – Moulali – Nacharam – Uppal, if you want to travel towards Uppal.
  • The public coming from Karimnagar can take Tirumalagiri X Road – Left turn AS Rao Nagar – ECIL – Moulai – Tarnaka to enter the city.
  • If traveling to Karimnagar or coming from Karimnagar, it is advised to avoid Tirumulgiri X Road-JBS route and instead take places like Gachibowli, Patancheruvu, Medchal, Kesara, Ghatkesar, etc. to reach your destination Use the Outer Ring Road (ORR) from ,

Uppal towards Punjagutta

  • Use the road from Uppal – Ramanathapuram – Amberpet – Himayatnagar – Khairatabad Junction – Punjagutta.
  • Do not use the road between Uppal – Tarnaka – Rail Nilayam, as it will be extremely congested.
  • Traffic from Tarnaka/Mettuguda towards Punjagutta/Ameerpet will be diverted via Sangeet X Road towards Chikkalguda-Musseerabad-Kavadiguda-Lower Tank Bund-Iqbal Minar-Lakdikapul.
  • Traffic from Punjagutta/Ameerpet towards Tarnaka/Uppal will be diverted via Punjagutta via Khairatabad-Nirankari-Old Thana Saifabad-Iqbal Minar-Telugu Talli Flyover-Lower Tank Bund-Kavadiguda-Musseerabad-Chilkalguda Rotary-Metuguda.
  • Traffic from Medchal/Balanagar towards Secunderabad will be diverted via Bowenpally X Road towards Dairy Farm Road-Holy Family Church-Trimulaghery-RK Puram-Neredmet-Malkajgiri-Metuguda.
  • Traffic from Karkhana/Trimulgheri towards SBH-Patni will be diverted via Trimulgheri X Road towards RK Puram-Neredmet-Malkajgiri-Metuguda.

For those planning to attend the public meeting

In its statement, the Hyderabad Police said, those attending the public meeting are advised to consult the annexure and map for designated parking areas and park their vehicles only in the marked areas to avoid being towed.

To avoid inconvenience, passengers are advised to plan their journey well in advance and avoid the stretches/routes mentioned. Call 9010236626 (Traffic Helpline) for travel assistance in case of emergency.

PM Modi to inaugurate projects worth Rs 11,300 crore

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will flag off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, which will provide fast, convenient and comfortable travel options to commuters. He will also dedicate to the nation the doubling and electrification of Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar project completed at a cost of about Rs 200 crore. 1,410 crores.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Bibinagar, Hyderabad in a public function at Parade Ground. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for national highway projects worth over Rs 300 crore. 7,850 crores. These road projects will strengthen the road connectivity of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to leave for Tamil Nadu after visiting Hyderabad on the same day.
