Hyderabad set to bid goodbye to Ganesha today | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad on Friday. Government sources said about 20,000 Ganesh idols were registered in the city for the event. There will be about 20,000 police personnel to oversee the Ganesh immersion peacefully, police said. However, state government sources said the number of idols to be immersed would be over 50,000 with several unregistered pandals.
The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) on Thursday expressed satisfaction with immersion arrangements at Tank Bund and surrounding areas. The BGUS has been at loggerheads with the state government over the issue.
On Thursday, BGUS members led by general secretary Bhagwant Rao inspected the arrangements twice, once during the day and later in the night by when the number of cranes had increased. Earlier, Rao called of his indefinite hunger strike at BGUS office in Begum Bazar on Wednesday after getting an assurance from the government over Ganesh immersion facilities.
“Arrangements made by the state government at Tank Bund for Ganesh immersion are satisfactory,” Rao said.
