Rahul Sipliganj was among 150 people detained following drug-related raids at Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills hotel over the weekend. Rahul, a singer and winner of Bigg Boss Telugu Season 3, was a guest at a party being held at an expensive pub in the city. Actress Niharika Konidela was also a part of the party and was also taken into custody. While her father Naga Babu shared a video in which he said that his daughter has been acquitted by the police, Rahul is sharing his side of the story.
Talking to the media, Rahul said that he was present at the party with his family and had not consumed drugs. As reported by the Times of India, Rahul told the press, “I had gone to Pudding and Mink Pub for a birthday party with my family. The police raided the place around 2:30 and when I asked them to tell me When asked to leave, they asked me to come to the police station. There were about 50 officers of the task force who took everyone to the police station.”
He said he was briefly interrogated and cooperated with the police. “He took my details and let me go. I was not aware of any substance abuse happening there and I request everyone to refrain from associating me with this drugs scam,” said Rahul. The singer also said that he would back his claims. Was ready for medical examination to prove it.
Sources told CNN-News18 that the task force team searched the premises of the pub for about two hours before taking all the detainees to Banjara Hills police station for further questioning. A case has been registered against the pub owners for violating the guidelines. A senior police officer confirmed to CNN-News18 that blood samples of 45 detainees have been collected for further medical examination to ascertain whether the drug has been consumed. The raids took place in the midst of a campaign launched by the police against the problem of drug addiction.
