Hurun India Rich List 2021: 3 richest Indians from Hyderabad

According to the Hurun India Rich List 2021, Telangana has the sixth largest number of billionaires in India, while Hyderabad is at the fourth position. 56 individuals and families of Hyderabad have assets worth over Rs 1,000 crore. The city added five billionaires during the past year.

The state has a total of 63 billionaires, eight more than in 2020. Three from Hyderabad have made it to the list of 100 richest Indians.

Murali Divi, a US-trained scientist and founder of Hyderabad-based Divi Laboratories, a drug research firm, is the richest Hyderabadi and 14th richest person in the country with a net worth of Rs 79,000 crore. His wealth increased by 61 per cent in one year. Last year he was ranked 17th.

The family of B Parthasaradhi Reddy and Hetero Labs ranks 58th in the list of richest Indians, up from 81st last year. He has assets worth Rs 26,100 crore, an increase of 88 per cent in one year.

Aurobindo Pharma Group’s PV Ramprasad Reddy’s assets have come down by six per cent. It is ranked 86th with a drop of 33 positions. Living in New Jersey, he has assets worth Rs 19,000 crore.

All three billionaires of Hyderabad come from pharma in the list of 100 richest Indians, proving once again why Hyderabad is called the pharmaceutical hub of the country.

As per the report, the pharma sector contributes the most to the list of richest Indians with 130 entries which includes 40 billionaires. In 2021, the sector saw a 43 percent increase in cumulative wealth compared to 36 percent in 2020. The pharmaceutical sector added 12 names to this year’s list and added assets worth Rs 3,45,900 crore this year.

Mumbai tops the list of richest India with 255 individuals, followed by New Delhi (167), Bengaluru (85). Hyderabad retained the fourth position. Chennai placed fifth behind Ahmedabad.
