Dehradun: ‘Hunar Hato’, a handicrafts exhibition aimed at providing market exposure and employment opportunities to artisans and craftsmen from minority communities, has become a credible platform to strengthen the Prime Minister. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the country’s 30th Hunari Haat Mela The Union Minister for Minority Affairs said here that employment opportunities have been provided to more than 5.60 lakh artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts through this initiative.
Around 500 artisans and craftsmen from across the country are showcasing their indigenous products made of wood, brass. bambooGlass, cloth, paper and clay etc. at Hunar Haat in Dehradun.
Inaugurated by Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh The families of freedom fighters were also felicitated in a program organized at a school in Dhami’s Race Course area.
In his address, Dhami said that there is no dearth of skilled artisans and craftsmen in the country. However, they were looking for a market for their arts and crafts.
“Hunar Haat has provided a huge market and opportunity to such artisans and craftsmen,” he said. He said that this initiative also strengthens the Prime Minister.s campaign For a ‘Self-reliant India’.
Hunar Haat is organized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under its Traditional Arts/Crafts Development (Ustad) Scheme for Upgradation of Skills and Training.
