Huma Qureshi: ‘Tamil, Telugu industries are not talking to their audience, they are pushing boundaries’

Huma Qureshi may be known as a Bollywood star, but the actress has also been a part of other film industries. She shared the screen with Rajinikanth for Kaala and with Ajith in Valimai. Now, in a recent interview, she opened up about the difference between working in the Hindi film industry and working in the South.

Speaking to ETimes Huma said, “People have realized that there is a lot to learn from them. Industries like Tamil and Telugu are not speaking to their audiences. In fact, they are pushing their limits. The stories are relevant, they take pride in cultural context, they are personal, nuanced, and massive. Southern industries have done this time and time again.”

She further added, “The way things are going, there are multilingual projects. The audience base grows for each actor and talent involved. I feel thrilled that I have done my second Tamil film Valimai. I have learned a lot by sharing screen space with Thala Ajith and Rajinikanth sir. Not only as an actor but also as an audience member, I am excited about these big pan-India films. Why should there be so many borders within our country anyway? We need to shake things up a bit in these critical times. ,

Well, do you agree with Huma? It is true that the industries in the south have crossed the limits and started performing even better than Bollywood films in the Hindi belt. It has crossed the language barrier, and is now forcing people to ask what the industry is doing right.

On her work with Huma, will be seen in XXL alongside Sonakshi Sinha. The film is directed by Mudassar Aziz, whom the actress is reportedly dating. He is also rumored to be a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hiramandi.
