The film marks the directorial debut of writer Piyush Gupta, a long-time collaborator of Nitesh Tiwari, having worked on Nitesh Tiwari’s films like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Chhichhore’.

Dalal, best known for hosting popular cookery TV shows such as “The Tarla Dalal Show” and “Cook It Up with Tarla Dalal”, wrote over 100 cookbooks and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2007. He died in 2013 at the age of 77.

Talking about her role in ‘Tarla’, Huma Qureshi said, “I didn’t want to copy Tarla because I think the whole idea is to imbibe the spirit of Tarla Dalal rather than imitating her. I feel That’s the most important thing, and I hope we’ve gotten close to that.”

Huma opens up and shares her anecdotes about Tarla’s fight against all odds to achieve her dreams. “Yeah, all the time. I think being women, we all face a lot of challenges when we try to work in a professional field, and I think I was no different. I am very grateful to my friends and family who supported me and how much support Tarla ji got from her husband and family in my journey as an actor,” she added.

Talking about the content available on OTT these days, Huma said, “One should watch it because it’s an incredible story, and it’s very relevant. I feel even today a lot of women are told that Get married first, then follow your passion and dreams.” But Tarla ji’s story shows how dreams have no expiry date and how the second half of their life takes them to such heights.”
