How to get admission in IIT without cracking JEE Advanced

Candidates who have secured rank in top 2.5 lakh in JEE Main are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2021. However, it is not the only way to get admission in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). From GATE to HSEE to online courses, check out all the ways to get a spot in reputed IITs.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is a national level exam conducted for candidates who want to take admission in Master’s program or Post Graduate Engineering ME or MTech in IITs. The exam consists of 29 subjects. Candidates who have completed their graduation or are in their third year are eligible for GATE registration. This year it will be organized by IIT Kharagpur. gate 2022 Application process will start from August 30. The exam is to be held on February 5, 6, 12 and 13.

Jam

The Joint Entrance Examination for Masters (JAM) is conducted for admission to MSc in IITs, Masters in Economics, Combined MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD dual degree and other postgraduate level degree programs at IITs. It is conducted for seven subjects – Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics. NS Registration will be from 30th August JAM 2022 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee on 13th February next year.

UGC NET

Those who want to pursue PhD or research from IITs can do so by cracking UGC NET. Those who secure a good score in UGC NET will be called for an interview round, on the basis of which candidates will be able to pursue PhD in IITs.

UCED

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination (UCEED) for Design is conducted for admission to BDes courses in IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur and other private colleges. To be eligible to apply, one must have passed 12th class.

HSEE

For admission to the five-year Integrated Master of Arts (MA) programs in IITs, candidates have to clear the Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Test (HSSEE). It is conducted by IIT Madras for admission to various streams such as Development Studies, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, Film Studies, Health Studies, History, International Relations, Philosophy, Politics and Sociology.

In the COVID-19 era, IITs have come up with many online courses Including B.Sc or Certificate course in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. To apply for these courses, candidates do not need to appear for any entrance test and certificates will also be provided at the end of the courses.
