‘How long will you be with him’: Aakash Chopra urges LSG to drop ‘out of form’ batsman for DC clash

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are on a winning spree in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. While the big guns like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are yet to open their account in the tournament, the KL Rahul-led side have already registered two consecutive wins and won the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Mumbai on Thursday. Face to face, former India opener Aakash Chopra has suggested a change for the LSG unit. He feels that the team should look beyond batsman Manish Pandey who has been struggling so far in the tournament.

In the last three matches, Pandey has scored 6, 5 and 11 respectively. Chopra feels that the batsman’s poor run is forcing other in-form players to face fewer deliveries.

“How long will you be with Manish Pandey? I think they should look beyond that. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni can bat in this order. What does it mean for Jason Holder to be at number 8 or 9? Krunal Pandya also barely bats. They have a long batting line-up,” said Chopra in his latest YouTube video.

The cricketer-turned-commentator further suggested that Pandey could be replaced by an extra bowler who would also help the team strengthen its attack against DC.

“They can drop Pandey and play an extra bowler in the form of K Gautam or Ankit Rajput. It is a tough decision, but one that needs to be taken if Lucknow is to move in the right direction. I hope Gautam Gambhir will take it as Pandey is just not cutting it at the moment. He has been given a prime number, as a result of which, the in-form batsmen are getting fewer overs to play,” said Chopra.
