Maniesh Paul was the star anchor of News18 Shosha Reel Awards, making it the most glamorous award night ever.
Maniesh Paul is definitely one of the most sought after show hosts in Indian showbiz today. The actor and anchor recently hosted the News18 Shosha Reel Awards, making it a night to remember. Not only did they welcome the star guests and make them feel comfortable, but they also kept them entertained and engaged throughout the night once the winners were announced.
Dressed in a turquoise blue velvet suit, Manish was the stylish host who kept the audience engaged throughout the night. Starting the show talking about the evolution of cinema, he quickly went on to announce the first few categories of the awards. He infused the program with his signature wit and banter along with many of the presenters and award winners, creating many laugh-out-loud moments for the audience.
He deservedly won the award for Best Actor in a Comic Role for his performance in Jugjag Jeeyo. Although Maniesh said he was not expecting the award, it did not come as a surprise to many, given his entertaining performance in the film alongside Anil Kapoor and Varun Dhawan.
He also laughed and joked with many stars on the stage. For example, he questioned The Family Man star Manoj Bajpayee on the rate of vegetables currently in the market. In return, Bajpayee shared an anecdote about calling the wrong number, thinking it was Maniesh Paul.
Anil Kapoor was also present at the awards to receive his Best Supporting Actor award for Jugjag Jiyo. Manish has developed a special bond with the actor while making the film, and it was quite evident on the News18 platform.
When Anil went on stage to present the Best Director trophy to Ayan Mukerji, Manish tried to pull his leg saying, “I thought you were going to give your winning speech, sir.” An angry Anil then went to Manish, who pretended to be scared. Anil then said, “You ate all my dialogues in Jugjag Jio, can’t I take your place in anchoring?” Their exchange brought a smile to every audience member’s face.
The show was filled with many such cute and comical moments created by Manish Paul who with his innate wit and presence of mind ensured that there was not a dull moment that night.
The News18 Shosha Reel Awards returned post the pandemic and the awards were given in three sections – Jury Awards, Web Series (Popular Choice) and Films (Popular Choice). Popular choice awards were given on audience votes.
