A day after Karnataka reported 8,906 COVID cases (January 9) – a massive health scare has struck with the Congress party launching a 10-day protest march over a drinking water project. The protest attracted crowds of thousands in defiance of pandemic protocols, which included the use of face masks and maintaining social distancing. Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah and state Congress president DK Shivakumar led the march, which was called “Namma Neeru, Namma Hakku,” or “Our water, our right”. The Congress party continues its padyatra in the state even after LOP Siddaramaiah fell ill.
