Yuvraj Singh also feels West Indies and Pakistan can reach the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj Singh, ICC Ambassador for the T20 World Cup predicted, is hoping that India can reach the final, where he hopes there will be no Australia waiting.

Speaking about the favourites to make the finals, Yuvraj said, “I’m hoping India, probably West Indies. Pakistan 3, and no Australians (laughs).”

The 2024 T20 World Cup has moved to a 20-team format, giving a chance to the associate or lower-ranked nations at the highest stage, while retaining the usual favourites in the title chase.

India and Pakistan are favourites to make it to the Super 8 stage from Group A, which also includes Ireland, the USA and Canada.

Defending champion England and 2021 winner Australia have a relatively comfortable group that includes Namibia, Oman and Scotland in Group B.

It could be the toughest of the groups – C – with one of either West Indies, New Zealand or Afghanistan set to make an early exit from the tournament because only the top two can advance to the next round.

South Africa are one of the favourites to advance from the group – D – which also contains Sri Lanka with Bangladesh, along with the Netherlands and Nepal.

The Super 8 phase will be in a round-robin format to identify the four best teams who will qualify for the semi-finals. Then begins the knockout phase to make it to the T20 World Cup final.

At the end of the group stage, eight teams will qualify for the Super 8.

When asked about one player he’s looking forward to watching, Yuvraj said: “I would say, Rishabh Pant. I am looking forward to the return of Rishabh, he is coming back from a massive injury.

“And the leading run-getter seems like Virat Kohli, he’s had a very good IPL,” he said.

Yuvraj is also certain that his record of six sixes in an over will not be matched in this World Cup.

“I think it’s very much possible, but I don’t think it’s happening in this tournament,” Yuvraj told PTI at the opening of Fan Park at the Oculus Trade Centre in New York.
