A court on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his daughter in 2021 for marrying outside his caste. Additional District and Sessions Judge Amrit Singh Chaliya sentenced the woman’s father Sohan Pal and her uncle Shiv Kumar in the honor killing case. Police said Pal was a sub-inspector with the Railway Police, while Kumar was then a head constable of the Haryana Police, posted at the Old Faridabad police station.

According to the police, on March 18, 2021, on the complaint of the woman’s husband Sagar Yadav, a case of honor killing was registered at the Ballabhgarh police station. He had alleged that his wife Komal was killed by his father and uncle. Police said that during investigation it was revealed that Komal had married Yadav against the wishes of her family. Pal and Kumar were arrested and tried to pass off the murder as a suicide, saying that they cremated the body secretly in their native village of Sahrala without informing the police.

According to the complaint, Komal had taken police protection on February 8, 2021 after her marriage at Arya Samaj Mandir, Sector-64, Ballabhgarh. Police said that when her family members came to know about her marriage, they decided to re-conduct it on March 15, 2021 in front of the panchayat members. Yadav and Komal were also engaged on February 19 in the presence of relatives of both the families.

“The marriage was to take place on March 15, but Komal’s father said that the marriage could not be possible due to the death of one of his relatives. Komal called me that her relatives were not in favor of our marriage and were pressurizing her. Were.” To get married at some other place,” said the complainant.

“After this, on March 17, we met in Sector-7. But at night Komal told me through WhatsApp that her father Sohan Pal and uncle Shiv Kumar were talking suspiciously. Komal told me that Komal had committed suicide and her family cremated the body in their village Sahrala and then I went to the police.

Faridabad police spokesperson Sube Singh said the police, acting swiftly, collected evidence and produced 33 witnesses. He told that on June 15, 2021, the charge sheet was filed in the court. Based on the evidence collected and the testimony of police witnesses, the court on Thursday sentenced both the accused to life imprisonment.
