Holon Municipality architect Avid Mor said the Holon apartment building collapsed due to a failure in the building’s central pillar, Ynet reported on Monday.
“We don’t know how to explain why this happened,” he said, adding that the decision to evacuate residents was fortunate. “There is pain and suffering, but the first thing that came before us was human life.”
The building collapsed on Sunday morning, a day after it was deemed unsafe, and 16 families were evacuated on Saturday morning.
