According to officials, a fire broke out at around 11 pm in the house of 80-year-old Salpur, who was living in a two-storeyed house with his three sons and their families.
The fire then spread to 47-year-old Tavarmani’s house.
The fire partially damaged three other houses, while one house was partially destroyed by the villagers to prevent the fire from spreading.
Salpur was alone at home during the incident as other family members were attending a wedding ceremony.
Though villagers rushed to the spot to douse the fire, they could not save two houses which were completely destroyed within minutes.
Not only cash, jewelery and other household items like furniture, bedding, utensils, ration, clothes and documents were burnt in this incident, but 10 animals were also burnt alive.
Three goats, a sheep, two cows and a calf were burnt alive along with the house and along with cash and other household items at the gaushala in Salpur, an official said.
“Apart from cash and all other household items, three cows were burnt alive in Twaramani’s house. Both the houses have been completely damaged. The flames also partially destroyed three other houses. started with fire house of salpur,” They said.
Police said that the cause of the fire is not yet known.
“The fire was brought under control after several efforts by the villagers and fire services. No human casualties were reported. However, some cattle have been burnt alive.”
Revenue department officials reached the village on Thursday morning.
As per the government rules, immediate relief was given to the victims.
In Himachal Pradesh, houses continue to catch fire during the winter season.
The fire is destroying old houses mostly made of wood and rubble and those who collect food inside the house.
The fire spread very fast in these houses.
In most of the cases, the main cause of fire is a short circuit.
