Himachal, MP report first omicron cases as eight test positive in Bhopal, one in mandi

New Delhi: The first case of Omicron type of corona virus was reported on Sunday in Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh respectively. Eight people tested positive in Madhya Pradesh after returning from abroad. In Himachal Pradesh, out of nine samples received for genome sequencing, only one case has been confirmed.

For travel history, three cases were from the United States, two each from the United Kingdom and Tanzania, and one from Ghana among the eight cases from Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, six patients have now tested negative and have been discharged from the hospital. The other two are asymptomatic and are being treated.

Himachal Pradesh: First Omron case found in Mandi

According to Health Secretary Amitabh Awasthi, the first case of Omicron in Himachal Pradesh was reported a few days ago in Mandi district.

On December 12, a 45-year-old woman tested positive with the novel COVID-19 variant. Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital conducted her RT-PCR test.

They claimed that the woman had come to India from Canada on December 3 and was alone at home for 14 days.

According to Awasthi, she recovered on December 24 and tested negative.

Madhya Pradesh: Eight omicron cases reported in Indore

On Sunday, State Home Minister Narottam Mishra announced that eight cases of Omicron strain of coronavirus have been found in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

MP government is reporting Novel Virus type cases for the first time in the state.

“Eight omicron Cases have been found in Indore. Of these patients, six have been cured and discharged while two are undergoing treatment.”

In addition, at least four people who returned from the United Kingdom on Sunday tested positive for COVID-19 on their arrival at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

A 57-year-old man who returned from Nigeria, four other members of his family and their domestic help have tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam, PTI told officials.

Andhra Pradesh also reported two more cases of the Omicron variant today, taking the number to six.
