Four research scholars from Deoband and Barelvi, both the major schools of Islamic education, have spoken on the Hijab controversy. He has called this dispute a spoiler of the social fabric of India. Dr. Alauddin Kashmi, an Islamic scholar from Deoband, says, “It is written in verse 59 of Surya Ahjab, 22nd Para of the Quran, that women should keep their heads covered.” He said, “Since independence, this kind of debate was witnessed in the country for the first time. Till today our faith and our will was not questioned. But now the interference in private matters has increased. It will disturb the social structure of India.”

“Research Scholar 3: Against the Constitution Opposing Hijab”
Ulema Mufti Asad Qasmi of Deoband said, “Our constitution gives us complete freedom to practice our religion. Hijab is a custom in our religion. Those who stop doing this are against the Constitution.” He said, “Some people are trying to capitalize on the handiwork of some mischievous boys of Karnataka in the UP elections as well. Those who give religious color to this issue will hope that it will be beneficial. But together we should prove them wrong.”

Research Scholar 4: Hijab woman’s dress to hide her eyebrows, how is the objection

Barelvi cleric Maulana Shahabuddin Rizvi said, “I have written a letter to the Chief Minister of Karnataka. I have requested him to end the dispute at the earliest. I believe that hijab is a dress for a woman to hide her eyebrows and her body.” There should be no objection to that dress.” He said “It is going on in our India that women, whether Hindu or Muslim, used to wear a dress to cover their face. But now European culture dominates. It’s less likely to happen.”
