High tension wire fell on man in UP’s Ghaziabad; killed

Ghaziabad (UP), Aug 5: A person died of electrocution in this district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday when a high-tension wire broke and fell on it. The deceased Mukesh was having breakfast at a roadside stall near Maliknagar Tirahe. He was returning to his village Basantpur Sainthali along with his wife from a hospital in Murad Nagar town after the Kovid vaccination.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Iraj Raja said that his wife Reena was standing at some distance from him and thus survived. Mukesh was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police said the deceased, who was in his late 30s, used to run a cyber cafe in his village.

After the incident, the villagers gathered at the Murad Nagar police station and created a ruckus over the alleged negligence on the part of the electricity department. They were later pacified by the police and revenue department officials. According to the rules of the electricity department, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh has been given to the family of the deceased. An ex-gratia amount will also be paid from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for which a recommendation letter will be sent to the government by the competent authority.

The SP said that the family of the deceased consists of his wife and two children.
