The Punjab-Haryana High Court, while giving protection to a couple living in a live-in relationship, said that both will not come out of the boundary wall of the house. Justice Anoop Chitkara said that permission is being given to step out of the house only in very urgent circumstances. In this, exemption will be given only in circumstances like medical need, buying essential goods, death of a very close person.

The High Court said that these restrictions have been imposed to ensure the safety of life and property of the petitioners. The SHO or any other officer of the concerned police station should ensure their safety for 1 week. After this, if the petitioners feel that they do not need the protection, then after the completion of the week, the protection can be withdrawn.

Boy’s age is less, will have to wait
Advocate Sanchit Punia, appearing for the petitioner, said that both want to get married. The girl’s age is 18 years 5 months, the boy’s age is 19 years two months. In such a situation, both will have to wait till the boy is of marriageable age. The girl is being forced to marry an elderly man.

The relatives also tried to get the girl married forcibly, so both of them decided to run away from home and live together. The girl’s family is searching for both and they are in danger of life. A representation was also given to the SPs of Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar but no action was taken. In such a situation, a demand has been made from the High Court to ensure security.
