High Court expires ultra-conservative draft adjournment law

Israel’s High Court adjourned to repeal the law that allows the Defense Ministry to postpone the recruitment of ultra-Orthodox Yeshiva students, Ynet reported on Thursday. Earlier this week, the state passed a new law asking for an extension of six months. Regulate the status of yeshiva students who wish to postpone their enlistment until they exceed the maximum age of military service. This is the state’s 10th request for elaboration of a seriously complex and divisive issue since the 2017 High Court ruling that blanket adjudication had been made. Recruitment was discriminatory and illegal.
