Senior neurologists told ANI that the risk of brain stroke and brain hemorrhage is even higher for people with high blood pressure, adding that it was necessary to keep blood pressure under control and consult doctors in time during severe cold weather. The pressure often rises in cold weather. Along with this, due to lack of sweating in winter, the amount of sodium in the body increases, due to which the blood pressure level increases. Many brain stroke patients were recently admitted in Kanpur hospitals, out of which a 14-year-old child died. Doctors said that the 14-year-old teenager died due to exposure to extreme cold.

Dr Aggarwal said, “During winters we get complaints of high blood pressure. High blood pressure increases the risk of brain stroke.” Also, excessive smoking also increases the risk of brain stroke. He said that people are often scared of taking blood pressure medicines and even stop the medicines without doctor’s advice. He said that in winters it is advised to take Vitamin D tablets and not to go for morning walk, people should bundle up when they go out.
