Sourav Ganguly has congratulated the Indian team for beating Australia 2-1 and feels they can win the final of the World Test Championship as well.

The Border Gavaskar Trophy not only paved the way for India’s qualification for the final of the ICC World Test Championship but also showed what the team can expect from its young stars in the future. One of the future stars who continues to burnish his reputation is top-order batsman Shubman Gill, who has been in scintillating form this year.

In 2013, Gill had already scored an ODI double century, a maiden T20I century and then scored his second ton in the fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad, replacing KL Rahul as an opener.

India defeated Australia 2–1, their fourth straight Test series win over them in 2017, and retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

“First of all, congratulations India for defeating Australia. India have won in Australia, and they have won in England, so there is no reason why they can’t win it again (WTC final against Australia). Bat well, score 350-400 and you will be in a position to win.” rave sports,

Ganguly feels Gill has staked a solid claim to be a permanent member of India’s Test team and has done everything to justify it.

“He has been brilliant in the last six-seven months. What else does he need to do? He is a permanent player now,” Ganguly said.

Ganguly heaped praise on the trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel who were crucial to India’s series win.

Ganguly pointed out how Akshar has made significant contributions with the bat in the lower order.

“Ashwin and Jadeja have been very good. You also have to speak about Akshar Patel. He quietly does a good job in the lower order with the bat. Whenever he gets a chance to bowl, he bowls well. Having Jadeja, Ashwin and Akshar is India’s strength. I know you can’t play all three outside but there is a lot of potential there.
