Microsoft recently announced the latest version of Windows, windows 11. With the latest version of Windows, the company has brought much-awaited improvements to the App Store for Windows. There are UI changes, as well as some speed improvements to the Windows App Store, but the most significant improvement is the presence of more apps in the Store. As reported by Tom Warren of The Verge, over the past week, apps like zoom, Canva, WinRAR, and more that were missing from the main Store have started appearing on the Windows App Store, making it more useful than ever. Also in the Windows App Store microsoft edge extensions, and all this during the beta period for Windows 11.
The Microsoft Store is changing to include any number of traditional desktop apps. Microsoft At first it limited developers to its Universal Windows apps, then allowed some desktop apps to use its store to update. Now from the new App Store anyone can be part of the App Store. new Microsoft Store Essentially a frontend for Windows Package Manager that was launched last year. Package Manager has been growing steadily over the past year, and now includes apps like discordhandjob Google Chromehandjob firefox, even more. That means more apps should come to the new Microsoft Store. mozilla has previously indicated that Firefox will soon be available on the Windows Store.
Warren also hints that we may eventually see rival app stores like Steam or the Epic Store in the Microsoft Store as well. The report quoted Windows Chief Panos Panay as saying that the company is ready to have Steam or the Epic Games Store in the Microsoft Store.
The Microsoft Store allows developers to keep 100 percent of the revenue from an app when an alternative payment platform is used. However, this does not apply to games. Microsoft earlier this year slashed its deduction for games from 30 percent to 12 percent and that will start on August 1.
However, the Microsoft Store has its drawbacks. For example, a lot of junk apps, many fake apps, guides and other crapware are still showing up in the search results.
