Superstar Rajinikanth, who was shooting for Rana in 2011, suddenly fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. He was first admitted to Isabella Hospital in Chennai and then to Ramachandra Hospital. In May, he was taken to a hospital in Singapore for better treatment in nephropathy, a condition that affects kidney function.
Rajinikanth returned to Chennai on 13 July 2011 after recovering from illness and it was an emotional day for his fans and family members. Since then his fans have been celebrating the day as Thalaivar Rebirth Day for over a decade with heartfelt messages for the superstar.
