The report cites sources that “flexible circuit board shipments have begun for the next generation AirPods models”. The report says that sources have suggested that the new AirPods may arrive alongside the new iPhones at Apple’s much-anticipated event in September. Note that this will not be an upgrade to AirPods Pro but an upgrade to the regular AirPods.
What we know so far about the expected AirPods
The next generation AirPods are expected to have the same design philosophy as the AirPods Pro. They are expected to feature shorter stems and ditch the design first introduced by Apple about six years ago. The Active Noise Cancellation feature is not expected to be a part of the new AirPods. However, we can expect a head-tracking spatial audio feature as well Dolby Atmos music support.
We can also expect a new chip to be inside the new AirPods. The rumor mill may refer to the upcoming AirPods as ‘AirPods 3’, but don’t expect Apple to stick to that nomenclature. There’s no word on whether Apple will add new colors to the AirPods or keep the all-white color only scheme for its next-gen true wireless earbuds.
The new AirPods are expected to be priced similar to the current model, which starts at just Rs 15,000 in India.
