Here’s what Virat Kohli’s childhood coach thinks might help get him back in form

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma feels the right-handed batsman needs to go back to his basics to get his game back in form. Virat, who once scored a century like a machine, has been struggling to score a century for more than two years now. Fans were hoping that Virat would finally complete his 71st century in the home series against Sri Lanka. However, the wait was extended as the 33-year-old could only get the highest score of 45 in this series.

Speaking in a YouTube video shared by Khelneeti, Sharma advised Kohli to come back to the academy and work on his basics. “Virat has to come back to his basics. I definitely want him to come back to the academy,” Sharma said, adding that he is going to talk to Virat about it soon.

He said that the kind of confidence that Virat gets by batting in the academy is needed right now.

Virat was out lbw in both the innings of the Bangalore Test against Sri Lanka. While many felt that the right-handed batsman was unlucky as the balls were too short, Sharma conceded that he was batting very carefully. He said that Virat is batting well and he needs to bring back his aggressive and independent approach.

“If he starts batting a little more freely like his entire career, soon he will be back at his best,” Sharma said. ,

Iyer played brilliant innings of 92 and 67 runs in the Bangalore Test, while Pant in his own special style played quick innings of 39 (26) and 50 (31) in the first and second innings of the match.

Meanwhile, Virat will now join the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The high profile tournament will start from March 26 with RCB playing their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 30.
