According to a Forbes report, the malicious app, Squid Game Wallpapers 4K HD, has been downloaded at least 5,000 times and the company blocked it on the Play Store before it was discovered by Google. Wallpapers app claims to be dedicated to the fans of squid game tv series. The @ReBensk tweet cautioned users against downloading apps related to the Squid game series. His tweet states that there are several malicious Android apps related to the squid game.
@ReBensk’s warning is later analyzed by ESET Android security researcher Lucas Stefanko. ESET stefanko The app is dubbed the squid game-themed Android Joker. For those who are not aware, Joker is one of the most frequent Android malware. It was first discovered in the year 2017. In 2020, Google shared a blog post on the company’s long battle with the Joker malware.
