Chennai: MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) is introduced Hema Ramachandran fellowship for female scientist Improving gender equality in scientific research.
Madhura Swaminathan, Chairperson, MSSRF signed an MoU with GP Ramachandran, wife of late scientist Hema Ramachandran, who has established an endowment named ‘The Hema Ramachandran’ at MSSRF. fellowship For women scientists to remember their scientific contributions and to pave the way for women scientists to return to research careers.
Hema Ramachandran, who was an experimental scientist at Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru and Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), breathed her last at the age of 58 on November 24, 2020, after a prolonged illness.
“This agreement has been entered into in the spirit of service to humanity” said GP Ramachandran. “This will help improve gender equality in scientific research,” she said after signing the MoU.
MSSRF chairperson Madhura Swaminathan said, “This post-doctoral fellowship will encourage women scientists to take up research work in any scientific field of the foundation.”
