Helicopter Tail Rotor Hits Uttarakhand Aviation Authority Official In Kedarnath, Dies

An official of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority died after the tail rotor of the helicopter hit Kedarnath on Sunday. An unverified handle on Twitter reported that the incident took place when Saini was trying to take a selfie with the helicopter. However, the police have not confirmed any such report. Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Vishakha Ashok Bhadane said that according to a report, the incident took place at the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam helipad in Kedarnath.

On the other hand, Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mayur Dixit told reporters that Amit Saini (35), who was about to board the chopper, suffered serious neck injuries after being hit by the tail rotor of the chopper and died on the spot. Saini worked as the Finance Controller in the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority.

Amit Saini and was part of the team that visited the helipad to inspect the arrangements for heli-services at the Himalayan Temple which is slated to open on April 25. District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said the accident occurred around 2.15 pm when the team was about to return after inspection.

Amidst the intermittent rain and snowfall in Kedarnath, the officials are busy finalizing the arrangements for the Kedarnath Yatra.
