Gujarat Rains: A bridge on a road connecting Panchol and Kumbiya villages in Tapi district was washed away on Sunday amid heavy rains in the western state of Gujarat. The rains in the state affected various districts including Valsad, Navsari, Tapi and others and created a flood-like situation in many parts. Due to the ongoing rescue operation on Sunday, around 700 people were shifted to safer places. Earlier, the Auranga river was in spate and the low-lying areas of Valsad district were also witnessing a flood-like situation due to heavy rains. NDRF teams and local administration are carrying out relief and rescue operations in the area.

Heavy rain for next 5 days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dang, Navsari and Valsad districts of South Gujarat during the next five days. The IMD said that many other districts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period.

A flood-like situation has arisen in different areas of Nadiad in Kheda district of Gujarat after heavy rains. Amid heavy rains, Gujarat Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi said on Sunday that the state has made arrangements to shift people living in low-lying areas to safer places.
