Kochi: The state will see good rains in the next few days.
An orange alert has been issued for Sunday and Monday with very heavy rainfall of 11-20 cm in five districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki. These days Yellow Alert for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram.
The IMD said this is due to the effect of a low pressure area over Sri Lanka off Tamil Nadu coast and the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 3.1 km above sea level. It is very likely to move westwards gradually during next 3-4 days.
An orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad on Tuesday.
Wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely along and off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep region. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea till November 3. The same warning is applicable for open seas, especially for Southeast Arabian Sea and Maldives.
Skymet Weather said that Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the areas with the highest rainfall this season.
