The hijab controversy in Karnataka will be heard again in the High Court on Wednesday. A bench of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice JM Khaji will hear the matter from 2.30 pm. Here, the state government has given green signal to open schools and colleges of class 11-12 from today. Schools up to class 10 have opened from Monday.

What happened in the High Court on Tuesday?
During the hearing in the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday, the petitioner’s counsel Devdutt Kamat placed before the bench the official translation of the Constitution of India into Kannada. Kamat said that the Kannada translation of the Constitution uses the same word for public order in every provision as in the government order. To this the bench said that we are interpreting the government order and not the words used for it.

During the hearing, Kamat told the court that this matter should be heard after March, otherwise the political party may try to take advantage of the elections. However, the court rejected his point and said that this is a matter related to the Election Commission, not related to us.

Officials are forcibly taking off the hijab
During the hearing in the High Court, lawyer Mohammad Tahir said that after your interim order, the officers are forcibly removing the hijab. He said that government officials in Gulbarga went to an Urdu school and forced the teachers and students to remove the hijab, after which the court said that we will look into the matter.

Hijab controversy started from Udupi
The controversy over the hijab first started in the Udupi district of Karnataka. On December 31, six Muslim girl students of Government Girls Pre University College (Senior Secondary School), Udupi’s government college, shared a picture on Twitter, wearing hijab, sitting on a bench outside the class. This picture immediately went viral on social media. After this the school administration banned the wearing of hijab, after which there was a protest.
