Health centers in Bihar will get basic facilities by the end of the month: Minister Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Health Minister Mangal Pandey He said that all hospitals and health centers would be equipped with the necessary infrastructure by the end of this month to deal with the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic if the pandemic spreads in the state.
Pandey said that there will be no shortage of medical oxygen in any health center by the end of August. Soon 122 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen generating plants will be set up in various hospitals. One such plant has already been installed in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) and other hospitals were in progress.
From the health sub-centre to the medical college hospitals, all the hospitals are getting the necessary medical equipment according to their need. It is expected that by the end of July, all health centers will get equipment like oxygen concentrators, B and C-type oxygen cylinders and BIPAP (Bilevel Positive Air Pressure) machines for children. Besides this, all essential medicines are being supplied in the health centres, the minister said.
Pandey said that Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs), Neonatal Intensive Care Units (PICUs)NICU) and Special Neonatal Care Units (SNCUs) of all health centers are being reformed on a war footing. Special Maternal Child Hospital (maternal and child health) are being established in 20 districts of the State.
He further informed that 1,215 health sub-centres in the state have been earmarked for repair and renovation. Tenders have already been floated for their reconstruction work. He said that 130 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) are being upgraded as Community Health Centers (CHCs).
As far as shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in hospitals and health centers is concerned, Pandey said that necessary steps have already been initiated to appoint them in sufficient numbers both on regular and contract basis. Altogether 30,000 doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff are being appointed. Around 9,800 doctors posts including 2,632 general doctors, 3,883 specialists and 3,270 AYUSH doctors have been advertised for regular appointment. 3,350 medical officers have already been appointed. In addition, 8,000 ANMs are being appointed for various health centres. Hospitals have been authorized to appoint adequate number of ANMs and GNMs on contract as per their requirements. He said that all the newly appointed doctors and paramedical staff are being trained at AIIMS Patna.
The minister said that the government is making every effort to get more and more people vaccinated against COVID-19 in both rural and urban areas. He said that the target of immunization of six crore people in six months (by the end of December) would be achieved at all costs. He said that adequate doses of all types of vaccines are being made available in different parts of the state and rural people are also being motivated to get vaccinated at the earliest to ensure their protection from the COVID-19 virus.
