‘He will definitely emerge as a trump card in Australia’: Sanjay Bangar backs ‘frequent spinner’ for T20 World Cup

Bangar admitted that the Men in Blue missed Chahal’s services in the final T20 World Cup held in UAE and backed him for a place in the upcoming ICC mega event.

“Yuzvendra Chahal is a player who was greatly missed in the last World Cup. He will definitely emerge as a trump card in Australia and bring good success to the Indian team,” said Bangar on Star Sports.

He further said that after the great Anil Kumble, it will be Chahal who will continue to play for India.

“If there is any leg-spinner who has played consistently for long for India, it is Anil Kumble. After Anil Kumble, if there is any wrist-spinner who has played consistently or for a long time for India, it is Yuzvendra Chahal,” he said.

Bangar further said that playing for his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has helped Chahal become a brave bowler.

“Absolutely, it’s played a huge role. It’s tested how big your heart is. When you learn to hit and aren’t afraid to be hit, you learn to bowl.

“He changes his seam position a bit, bowls in different lines, that has been his strength. He has brought a very good aspect to his game, that is to bowl the right and left handed batsmen on the wide line. The lessons they have learned are from Chinnaswamy itself.”
