Zadran is looking forward to advice from India legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni to help him excel in his role as a finisher for MI Emirates, a role he played the last time the two teams faced off Well done when it happened.

Afghanistan star Najibullah Zadran is confident that MI Emirates have learned from their defeat to the Desert Vipers and are ready to return to the DP World ILT20 here on Sunday.

Zadran said that MI Emirates have learned their lesson from that loss and will be thirsty for revenge in the return leg.

“All matches are important. At the moment the target is to finish in the top 2. From here on the focus is on winning all the matches. I am confident that the team will get over the line,” he said.

Zadran created quite a sensation in the ILT20 when he came in at number 6 to score 30 off just 9 balls against Dubai Capitals on 22 January. ,

Back in his happy hunting grounds in Sharjah, Zadran is keen to put his vast knowledge of pitches to use at the venue.

“I love playing in Sharjah, it is our home ground. I have played a lot in Sharjah where you have two types of pitches. The ball stays low on one pitch but on the other, you have the license to play your shots. Happens, that too with short boundaries, fun to play in Sharjah.”

The 29-year-old all-rounder idolises the great MS Dhoni, and has insights learned from the former India The wicketkeeper has been on top of his game and is confident of continuing to deliver the same effort.

“I consider Dhoni as my role model. No one can end an innings like he used to. I learned from him. I spoke to Dhoni in the 2015 World Cup where he told me to stay calm and believe in myself even in high pressure situations. I still believe and follow that advice.”

MI Emirates are currently third in the table with seven points from six matches. They have won three of these matches and one more win on Sunday will see them leapfrog the Vipers to the second spot.
