HDFC Bank filtering 2021 graduates from job interviews? Know the truth behind the viral advertisement

New Delhi: A job circular issued by HDFC Bank caused concern for fresh graduates as the newspaper advertisement mentioned that “21 passed candidates” are “not eligible” for the bank’s job postings in Tamil Nadu.

The circular in question invited the graduates for a walk-in interview on August 3 at 10 am at the Madurai branch of the bank.

The working locations for HDFC job openings were to be in Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga and Virudhnagar districts of Tamil Nadu.

While the age limit for candidates was set below 28 years, the advertisement stated that “21 passed candidates are not eligible” – a cause of concern as a picture of the advertisement was shared widely on social media.

So, is there any truth in advertising? Is the 2021 candidates really being filtered in the posting of the bank?

HDFC Bank has given a clarification in this matter. Replying to a Twitter user, a post by HDFC’s official handle read: “This is a typo and we apologize for the error. Graduates can apply irrespective of the year of passing, as long as they meet the age criteria.” Let’s do it. We have already released the correct advertisement. Shared here”.

According to the bank, its seller made a mistake in which the word “no” was used instead of “also”. It said the correct ad was shared shortly thereafter.

While the issue was clarified, some netizens took a humorous dig at the gaffe by sharing the memes:

Fortunately, the 2021 graduates who have managed to complete their course amidst the very stressful period of the COVID second wave need not worry anymore.
