He threatened that if his demand was not met, the construction work of the airport would be stopped and the airport would not be named after Patil till August 15.

A delegation of protesters also later went to meet the Managing Director of CIDCO and presented their written demand.

Even though local leaders had earlier called for a “gherao” of the CIDCO building in CBD Belapur, the protesters were stopped a kilometer away from the building and the road was heavily barricaded.
