It was affected by the writers’ and actors’ strike in 2023, the show’s cast had been experiencing a massive surge in popularity and thus were busy with many other projects as well as, the creator Sam Levinson wanted to write the entire show on his own, reports Variety.
The key cast of Euphoria who will return includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demie and Eric Dane. Other cast members including Maude Apatow, Storm Reid, Nika King, and Dominic Fike will also reprise their roles in the new season of the series.
Angus Cloud, who broke out in his role as Fezco, had tragically passed away at age 25 in July 2023. Meanwhile, some cast members such as Barbie Ferreira have indicated that they would not be returning to the show for another season, Variety informs.
Zendaya is also an executive producer on Euphoria, while Levinson is the executive producer and director. Apart from widespread fame and rave reviews, Euphoria has proven to be a strong awards contender for HBO. Reportedly, the series has received 25 Emmy nominations, with nine wins. Among the wins are two for Zendaya for best actress in a drama and one for Colman Domingo for best guest actor in a drama. Levinson also won a DGA award for one of the episodes he wrote for the second season.
