Haryana CM Manohar Lal welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement to withdraw all three farming laws on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. He also indicated to withdraw the police cases registered against the farmers due to the agitation which has been going on for the year. Manohar Lal said that where there is mutual understanding, there are many issues to be discussed. Some cases are common while some are also registered under serious sections. Now meaningful initiative will be taken by the state government and no dispute will be allowed to proceed.

Significantly, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of withdrawing the farming law, many farmer organizations have raised the demand to withdraw the police cases registered against the farmers due to the agitation. In such a situation, the BJP government of Haryana has taken initiative in this direction. The Chief Minister also appealed to the farmers of Haryana, Punjab and other states, who have been sitting on the Delhi border for several months, to return home. Manohar Lal said that once again the Prime Minister has shown a liberal character by withdrawing all the three laws. Modi’s stature increased with this decision.

Have faith in PM’s words

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister’s announcement has received a mixed response. Some farmer organizations praised the PM for this, while some unions and leaders are still not satisfied. On the distrust shown by the farmers’ unions towards the Prime Minister, the CM said that he would urge the farmers not to worry about anything now and have faith in the announcement of the Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister said that a year and a half ago, the Central Government had brought this farming law for small and marginal farmers. Most of the farmers welcomed them, but some farmers did not find the law beneficial for some reason. These farmers are sitting on the outskirts of Delhi for 11 months. Today, in the interest of society and farmers, PM has shown a generous heart by announcing the withdrawal of all three laws.

Linking the decision with the election is not rational

The CM said that the decision to withdraw the farming law was not taken immediately. Negotiations on this were going on for a long time. This decision was taken in the interest of the farmers in view of the long standing stalemate. It is not reasonable to associate it with elections. Elections keep coming.
