Haryana paper leak: Congress’s Surjewala demands HC-monitored CBI probe

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday demanded a High Court-monitored CBI probe into the alleged leak of question papers for male police constable recruitment in Haryana as the opposition attacked the BJP-led government in the state over the issue. According to an official order, amidst reports of a paper leak, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) on Saturday canceled the written examination for the recruitment of male police constables. Saturday was the first day of the exam and candidates appeared in two shifts at 35 centers across the state. Papers were to be held on Sunday also.

The Congress, which is the main opposition party in the state, has intensified its attack on the BJP government after the exam was cancelled. On Sunday, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda alleged that the exam papers were being sold “like a grocery store item”.

Taking a jibe at the state government after the paper leak scam came to light one after the other, Hooda said, “If there was a medal for paper leaks, the BJP-JJP government would have definitely won gold.” He said that Congress will take up the issue. Hooda, leader of the opposition in the Haryana Legislative Assembly, said, “There is hardly any recruitment in the last few years whose paper has not been leaked.
