Haryana minister Anil Vij’s assistant accused of leaking confidential information

Chandigarh, September 24: An employee working as an assistant in the office of Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij was handed over to the police on Friday for leaking information by clicking photographs of confidential files in confidential matters. He said the minister checked the employee’s mobile phone in the presence of journalists and called the police after getting information about confidential files, documents and confidential matters of key departments of Vij.

On Vij’s complaint, the employee was handed over to the police. This happened in the presence of the minister. Police said that they are probing the matter. Apart from Home, Vij also holds the portfolios of Health, Urban Local Bodies, Technical Education and Science and Technology.

Police said the accused was working as an assistant in the minister’s office. Sources said the accused, who was working in the minister’s office for over a year, had clicked a large number of photographs related to confidential matters. Sources said that these were being sent to different people.

Police said that to whom these were being sent is a matter of investigation. During the previous tenure of the BJP government in the state, the then health minister Vij had caught a ‘CID officer’ allegedly spying outside his office.

However, later the then DGP clarified that such personnel are posted as per the standard procedure to keep an eye on the people visiting the ministers. At that time, Vij was told by a member of his personal staff that a man whom he had seen walking outside his office on several previous occasions was again on the premises. Later, Vij and some of his staff apprehend the man who had revealed his identity as a CID officer.
