Haryana: Dy CM Dushyant Chautala announces Gurugram restaurants to stay open 24 hours; Details here

Delhi NCR: Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala announced that restaurants in Haryana, including Gurugram, can remain open 24 hours. The decision was taken at a meeting held by Chautala with various departments, including Labour, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anup Dhanak, to allow restaurants to operate round-the-clock in the state.

Dushyant Chautala said, “In future, restaurants in Haryana will be open 24 hours, there will be no restriction on closing at night.” State restaurant associations have recently approached Chautala, seeking permission to keep their outlets open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the convenience of the public.

Chautala highlighted that eateries that choose to remain open 24 hours should be allowed to do so, and no one should force them to shut down. However, these eateries will have to be registered with the Labor Department and follow the terms and conditions of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act 1958.

The decision is comparable to the one taken in Delhi, where over 300 restaurants, motels, pharmacy stores and transport and logistics enterprises were given licenses to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) campaigned for this action, predicting a 30% increase in trade. Extending the working hours of restaurants is believed to add to the bustling nightlife of metropolitan cities and the decision is expected to improve economic opportunities in the capital.
